The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up our nation's central bank. 

More than 2,000 employees at the Kansas City Fed work in monetary policy, banking supervision, payments and public engagement, as well as supporting areas, including information technology, financial management and administrative services.

It is our responsibility to ensure banks within our District are well-run and treat their customers fairly, payments are handled safely and efficiently, and that the interests of our region are represented in national monetary policy deliberations.

Tech Challenges

The Fed is committed to current and emerging technologies. We learn, explore, experience, and grow with technologies. Our technical work includes:

  • Agile Software Delivery & Product Management – agile teams collaborating to deliver valuable software products
  • Cloud – software engineers using modern cloud technologies and microservice architectures to develop innovative solutions to real business problems
  • DevOps Automation – DevOps professionals creating modern software delivery pipelines, deploying Infrastructure as Code and performing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • End User Support – technicians providing remote support to our employees working remotely in virtual team rooms
