Meedan
Toward a safer and more equitable internet
We codesign open-source tools and programs, enabling communities — especially those that have been historically underserved — to access the information they need to organize and mobilize. We also strive to make online ecosystems safer and more inclusive so existing pathways for content production and distribution can better serve the needs of all communities, regardless of their location, language, or income.
During major events — such as elections and political transitions, climate catastrophes and public health emergencies, armed conflicts and social turmoil — Meedan mobilizes.

Meedan’s people philosophy
A note from CEO Ed Bice
Meedan was founded as a context project. I know, it sounds geeky. But, this is simply the idea that we do better in the world when our understanding of people, places, ideas, and events includes what might, at first pass, go unseen. We try to embody this value not just in our technologies and programs but also in how we run our organization. This means that we don’t shy away from trying to understand the context — personal, familial, societal, cultural, religious, and ethnic, to name just a few factors — of every team member at Meedan. We are focused on building a team of high-performing people that creates a high-impact organization, and when we assess our impact, we include considerations of the health and well-being of our people as parents, partners, caregivers, and community members.
