As a Latina woman in technology, my innovation journey began far from Silicon Valley. I started my professional path as a public accountant in Venezuela. Years later, I now serve as Chief Operating Officer of BIGWISE Corp and lead the development of Biwitech, a retail hardware brand born in the U.S. and expanding across Latin America. Women founders bring diverse perspectives that lead to more relevant and inclusive innovations. I conceptualized Biwitech when I noticed that large retailers, particularly in developing markets, were underserved by existing tech solutions. By creating hardware explicitly designed for high-volume, complex operations in Latin America and the U.S., we’re solving real-world retail challenges that traditional systems often overlook.

Biwitech operates today in Miami and several Latin American markets, including Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, through partner networks. This expansion is not just about technology it's about economic opportunity. By manufacturing, distributing, and supporting local businesses, we create jobs, strengthen regional economies, and reduce our reliance on imports. Women-led companies like ours often reinvest in community ecosystems and create sustainable economic growth across borders. I've seen how retail chains can thrive when given tools adapted to their specific needs.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Women founders serve as role models for young girls and other women, inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Growing up in Venezuela, I never imagined I would one day lead a technology brand developed in the U.S. and implemented across Latin America. However, it was the role models I found, women who didn't fit the traditional mold but dared to build and lead that changed my path. Today, as COO of BIGWISE Corp and Chief Biwitech Development Officer, I make it a priority to share my journey openly and support women who dream of innovating beyond borders. Through Biwitech, we are creating hardware that simplifies retail operations, but beyond technology, we're building representation. I believe that every time a young girl sees a woman leading a tech company, especially in fields like hardware or systems integration, we're rewriting what is possible. Whether in Miami, Caracas, or Mexico City, I've met women engineers, developers, and designers whose ideas are powerful but lack visibility. That's why representation matters. I hope that by leading publicly, publishing knowledge (such as my recent book on self-service implementation), and staying actively engaged with networks like WomenTech, we create space for the next wave of female builders, coders, and creators. Because the future of tech is not only innovative, it must also be inclusive.

Women founders are not just adding diversity; we are reshaping the foundation of how, where, and for whom technology works. We need more women building platforms, creating physical tech, and scaling solutions across diverse markets. We need more of us at the table and more of us setting the table.
