Our Infrastructure Engineering & Operations organization builds and maintains Akamai's Platform, one of the largest distributed platforms in the world. The team is responsible for designing and developing networking software running on Akamai’s switches, routers and servers that forms the critical underlay and overlay infrastructure on top of which Akamai Cloud operates.

This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on Akamai's growing cloud offerings, requiring a combination of system design, networking protocol expertise, leadership skills, programming and debugging skills, and independence. You must have a passion for designing and building both software and networking, getting things done quickly and getting them done right.

As an Architect Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and documenting core networking functionality that enables the overlay of virtual networks.

• Writing architectural design documents and participating in design reviews.

• Coordinating with teams globally as part of working on new features, designs and other tasks.

• Architecting overall systems design of software components, including network automation frameworks, APIs, and data flows.

• Collaborating closely with product teams developing the next generation of networking products

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be an expert in virtual networking concepts and protocols, such as VXLAN and SRv6.

• Have solid skills in documenting the operations of complex computer software and network systems.

• Be comfortable with object-oriented programming languages, such as Go, C++, Python or Java.

• Possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including communicating complex technical content to a range of audiences in English
