The Role

Aspen Technology, Inc. (AspenTech) is seeking a Principal Business Analyst to join our IS Application Services team. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Application Service, this role will be part of a larger team responsible for the implementation and support of a new Revenue Management System. 

This role will be based in our Corporate Headquarters in Bedford, MA, and work in close collaboration with Finance to drive digitalization and automation of various business processes.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with ERP / financial systems including revenue recognition and a deep understanding of associated financial business processes. S/he will need to be a self-motivated team-player with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.

 

 

Your Impact

  • Serve as the liaison between IT and the business area stakeholders to understand current and future business requirements for information technology services and systems.
  • Create and articulate compelling business cases to support changes to business systems and processes.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of business process owners to influence change.
  • Use best practices and functional expertise within the scope of the applications to drive change through technology and business process redesign.
  • Participate in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle and Change Control processes.
  • Enable continuous improvement and offer recommendations regarding opportunities to maximize integration across systems and enable new functionality.
  • Document business needs, distinguish between needs and wants, identify gaps between business needs and standard application functionality, design and document solutions that fill the gaps, and provide detailed business requirements specifications for developers.
  • Develop, document, and execute test plans to assess the integrity and accuracy of business processes, module functionality setups and modifications, enhancements, customizations, and patches.
  • Develop and maintain end user training documentation and deliver training as required.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation and consider compliance in all business process analysis and redesign activities.
  • Support, analyze, and resolve critical production application issues as required.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in any Revenue Management System (standalone application or part of a ERP module)
  • Experience in implementing a Revenue Management System (preferably Zuora Revenue or Revpro)
  • Experience in working with revenue operations team and understand the revenue recognition requirements (preferably in a Software company)
  • Experience with Revenue Recognition guidance like ASC 605 and ASC 606 preferred
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Oracle Business Intelligence and/or Salesforce.com.
  • Experience with Oracle development tools such as SQL/TOAD a plus
  • Ability to lead Functional initiatives with diverse teams, including gathering and consolidating requirements from cross-functional groups
  • Experience with business process improvement, and business analysis, preferably within an agile environment
  • Self-motivated, team-player with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet constantly changing timelines
