Maverick Real Estate Partners is a real estate focused, data-centric private equity fund manager. We’re seeking a New York City-based Data Strategist to support the continued evolution of our “modern data stack”, workflows and digital products.
The primary responsibilities for this full-time, on-site role will be:
- Develop expertise covering all aspects of Maverick’s data ecosystem, acting as a key resource for our team as we use our extensive data resources to find innovative solutions to investment and operational challenges.
- Work within cross-functional teams of domain experts, analysts, data scientists and engineers.
- Lead the initiative to implement a comprehensive data catalog and other data governance, quality, and lineage tools.
- Analyze data sets to establish quality and usefulness across various analytics and data mining/modeling use cases.
- Oversee ELT, pipelines and orchestration; constantly improve our automation efforts.
- Prepare data sets and support feature engineering for ML modeling initiatives.
- Facilitate the selection and management of technology and data vendors.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and experiments.
Technical Skills Required:
- Fluency in SQL
- Facility with modern data warehouse solutions (BigQuery and Snowflake in particular) and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
- Understanding of ELT tools and pipeline orchestration techniques (DBT experience a plus).
- Experience working with common APIs (REST, GraphQL).
- Visualization proficiency and experience building dashboards (Data Studio, Looker, etc.).
- Experience with Python or R a plus.
- Familiarity with ML modeling techniques a plus.
- Interest in knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic web, etc. a plus.
Other Qualifications:
- Exceptional attention to detail
- 2+ years working hands-on with data using code-based tools, in a role such as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Metadata Specialist, etc.
- Good creative sensibilities for data visualization.
- Strong analytical skills
- An interest in real estate and finance; prior industry experience a plus.
- Prior experience working with digital product analytics data a plus.
- Self starting and entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills
Compensation will include a salary of $150,000 - $200,000 commensurate with relevant experience. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with employer match as well as medical, dental and vision insurance plans. Potential to obtain equity in Maverick’s funds. Generous vacation, sick leave, and parental leave policies. All new hires participate in Maverick’s intensive training program.
The Data Strategist will operate from our Midtown Manhattan office (remote candidates are not currently being considered). We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship at this time.
