The Japan Marine Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and expanding marine and offshore business opportunities in the Japanese market. The role focuses on identifying new clients, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, promoting company services, and supporting commercial growth across the marine sector.
The position requires close collaboration with shipowners, shipyards, manufacturers, EPC contractors, and internal technical teams to promote certification, inspection, advisory, and related marine services. The role also involves market intelligence gathering, pipeline management, proposal coordination, and contract negotiation activities to support sustainable business growth in Japan.
Business development and sales experience within the marine, maritime, offshore, shipbuilding, or related industries
Knowledge of marine industry structure, shipbuilding processes, marine equipment, offshore projects, or classification/certification services
Experience in client relationship management and commercial negotiations
Ability to identify new business opportunities and develop sales pipelines
Experience in proposal preparation, quotation management, tender participation, and contract coordination
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, shipyards, manufacturers, and internal teams
Ability to coordinate with technical departments to support customer requirements and project execution
Market research and strategic business development capability
Ability to work independently and manage frequent client visits and business travel
Fluent Japanese communication skills are mandatory for client-facing activities and relationship management within the Japanese market
Business-level English communication skills are required for internal and external communication in a global environment
Existing network within the Japanese marine industry would be an advantage
