QE Engineering Manager

  

Job Description:

   

Your team consists of experienced and highly skilled QA engineers, who are responsible for assuring the quality of our Linux product family. Their duties are:

  • Developing and enhancing the automation tools for various Linux products, that also run in the public cloud, with openQA as our main tool.
  • Designing, developing and maintaining automation test cases for our Linux products.
  • Collecting and investigating automation tools requirements from QA and development teams.
  • Coordinating test planning and execution in a truly global distributed project team.
  • Supporting all colleagues in achieving their goals by doing pair-programming, coaching or conducting workshops.

What you are responsible for:

  • Provide line-management and leadership to a highly self-organized team.
  • Advocate Agile methodologies within the team and the department.
  • Support the team in efficient and timely delivery of assigned tasks.
  • Mentor and coach team members in developing additional necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Work very closely with development and release management to define suitable test approaches.
  • Act as a change sponsor, engaging and motivating the team for constant and ongoing change and improvement.
  • Reach beyond your core job responsibilities, help others to succeed and to be successful.
  • Create a positive and self-reliant work environment.

Required skills and experience:

  • Thorough understanding of software quality assurance and quality control techniques, software development life cycle, test automation frameworks and various test methodologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working in a virtual and distributed environment.
  • Being able to navigate at ease through a culturally diverse matrix organization.
  • Ability to negotiate with the team and others to reconcile differences, ability to seek agreement and consensus across boundaries (team, department and cultures) over professional matters.
  • Ability to understand social perceptions. Being aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
  • Understanding and promoting the open source development model.
  • Strong analytical skills and result orientation for effective problem solving.
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience with programming languages. Perl and C programming experience would be a plus.
  • Excellent Linux knowledge.
