Digital Transformation at Pepsico: A Journey Towards Empowered Female Talent

Hello there! Today, we want to take you behind the scenes to uncover the exciting narrative of the digital transformation at Pepsico, our team's vibrant culture, and how we strive to empower female talent.

Getting To Know Our Team

I'm Agatha, Talent Position Manager for the Digital Hub Spain. I'm originally from Lithuania and have been living in Barcelona for around nine years now. I've been part of Pepsico for an amazing six years and love working with our creative, smart, and energetic people.

Allow me to introduce Erica, my fellow team member who, like me, hails from another corner of the world - Venezuela. She's been living in Spain for 14 years and joined Pepsico over three years ago. Erica finds the dynamic and diverse environment at Pepsico truly enriching.

Digital Approach at Pepsico

At Pepsico, we aim to accelerate our digital transformation, contribute to Pepsico's global business goals, and invest in our people and talent development. Our approach places strategic partners at the heart of our business.

We function through three main pillars:

  • Data Analytics: encompassing data science, data engineering, data governance, strategy, and ecosystem business engagement.
  • Digital Products and Services: housing the product management service, product design, software engineering, and program management teams.
  • Strategy and Transformation: this includes demand planning and process management, like our priority project, Integrated Business Planning (IBP).

Our Digital Hubs Around the World

Pepsico has Digital Hubs in several locations:

  • Two hubs in the US (New York City and Texas)
  • One in Mexico
  • Two in Spain (Barcelona and a location close to Bilbao)
  • Two in India (Hyderabad and Gurgaon)

Since the launch of these digital hubs in 2021, our team has grown immensely – from 231 employees to a current workforce of 780. Our goal is to reach more than 1,000 employees in all global hubs.

Our Diverse and Inclusive Culture

Our team is diverse, with representation from over 45 nationalities. We're also proud that 39% of our global talent is female, well above the industry average.

Empowering Female Talent - Our Strategy

Our strategy for empowering female talent is multifaceted. Our Talent Attraction initiative aims to reach 50% female talent by next year. We present a 50/50 candidate shortlist to hiring managers, making concentrated efforts to seek out female talent. Furthermore, we create spaces where women can share their experiences, both inside and outside the office.

Through social impact initiatives, we work with organizations committed to empowering young girls in technology. Internally, we leverage the One Network platform, where women at Pepsico can share advice, recommendations, and experiences.

I'm originally from Venezuela. Uh But I've been living in Spain for 14 years now and, and I joined Pepsico over three years ago. Um recruiting also for, for tech talent. Um And what I like the most about Pepsico, I would say is the, the environment um the culture that we have um with people from different backgrounds and experiences. Um and also what they share and I think it's a company that brings different perspective. Um And my favorite product is also like for bread. I just love them.

Great. Thank you Erica. So we haven't rehearsed that. So I didn't know Erica that you like as well as good. Um OK. So now let me share Slido and let's see your responses, Erica, can I share my screen?

And then as well, we would like to understand what is your area of expertise when it comes to your professional. Um Well, what you're currently doing as a, as a professional, we'll give you some, some time. I see people are typing. We have people from data analytics. OK? A lot of people from data analytics, technical data engineering, software development, web program management, software development PM O training, data visualization, software development. Great. OK. So I see the sub for the Mein A analytics are other winners. Um And we have quite technical audience here.

So give a moment and Doritos. Yes, I like Doritos as well. Um Well, thank you everyone for your replies. Now, I feel that somehow we are closer to all of you, although we cannot see you. Um So we'll continue with our presentation. Um So first of all, we would like to start uh start talking about the overall goals as um strategy and transformation organization at Pepsico. So this is a new organization that, that we, that we are building. And the first goal is first of all, to accelerate our digital transformation, which was started a few, few years ago already. The second one is contribute to Pepsico's global um business goals because this organization is, is working very close uh to the business and is acting as a, as a business partner. And as a third goal is to invest in our people and talent development. As our leader, Athena is saying that Pepsico puts humans at the center of our digital transformation and we are as well very proud to have Athena as our Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer when it comes to Digital Approach. So we operate as strategic partners to the business.

Yeah, this team is working very close to the business and when it comes to the structure, so we can have uh a better understanding. So we have three pillars, it's data analytics, digital products and services and strategy and transformation. And within these pillars, we have different teams.

So within data analytics, we have data science, data engineering, data governance, strategy and ecosystem business engagement within digital products and services. We have such teams as product management service, product design, software engineering, pro program management.

So the team is very much focused on actually building the digital product and services for the business and when it comes to strategy and transformation, we have demand planning uh uh process management. IBP, for example, IBP is one of our priority projects. So this is just a, a glimpse of how uh what, what, what is the structure of, of this organization and it shows that we are mm we want to deliver end to end digital transformation strategy uh to the business and then I will hand over to Erica.

Thank you. Um So, where are we based at? Uh We have hubs uh globally. So we have two hubs in the US. Uh one in New York City and the other one in Texas. We also have a hub in Mexico. Um two hubs in Spain, one in Barcelona, and another one close to Bilbao in the north region of the country and two hubs in India, one in Hyderabad and another one in Gurgaon about our journey. So we started this um this project, this digital hubs in 2021. And uh we hire in the locations that I mentioned before. Uh And we ended the year with 231 employees. And then uh the next year we uh grew a lot. So we ended the year with 780 employees. And uh our goal for this year and moving forward is um to reach more than 1000 employees um in all the in the global hubs. Good. Um So we thought this is a very good uh representation of our culture. Uh We have uh 39% representation of female talent globally uh which is uh a lot higher than the average in America. We have over 45 nationalities and uh 39 years old is the average uh of our employees. Um And how do we empower females uh in pets and in our digital hubs for that, we have different uh initiatives. Um One of them is telling attraction. Um So attracting female telling is part of our employer branding proposition.

And for that, we have created, for example, campaigns uh focuses specifically in targeting female um in the market. We also have um uh a talent acquisition agenda where we uh we want to reach uh 50% of female for next year. So we always try um to present uh 5050 candidates to hiring managers uh making a bigger effort in looking for female talent. Uh We also create spaces uh where female can share their experiences inside in the office or also online uh with female panelists also uh involving social impact um initiatives, working with organizations that empower young girls um and the products that they create in, in tech and um internally, we also have this one network uh platform uh which is for female um for females in, in p to share experience, um tips, recommendations uh And also for young talent to have a woman to look up to and have role models.

Um And here we brought a video about Latina where she shares um the, the role that women played in our digital hub.

Let me start by saying, how proud I am of SNP on female diversity. We have 5050 at the leadership level, attracting female talent in our digital hub is an imperative for two reasons. Talent is available. Barcelona is a great magnet for females to study and have a career. And Pepsico is a natural place for females to have uh an amazing career within strategy and transformation within digital Day analytics and A I and have an amazing development opportunity within Pepsico. When it comes to young girls, young graduates, I would say the sky is the limit.

There is nothing for you to fear about having an amazing career in technology, having great opportunities. Now it is the time where the industries are ready. They did to take this fe talent and allow them to develop and you have a role to play. Let me start by, let me start by saying,

OK. Uh So yeah, thank you everyone. Um This is if you scan this QR code, um it will land you to our website where we have our opportunities posted.
