I currently play the role of Lead Architect for a large Cloud Transformation program for a key customer. I also lead the AI initiative within my group. As an architect, it is important to focus on delivery, solutioning and innovation and I've been involved in multiple aspects of the same. I also play a customer facing role so it is important to give solutions with customer focused and realistic goals.I am the lead AI champion in my group from India. I lead a large Cloud Transformation program as Lead Architect. This is interesting as it is a fast paced customer centric role. Being able to lead the solution for customer with the best practices in mind is a challenge and it has been very fulfilling. Also, since I am working on areas that are niche like Cloud, Cloud AI and AI, it is interesting to be able to learn new technologies and enjoy the learning
curve.
Also, I am a Diversity Ambassador and part of the Capgemini Women in Delivery initiative. I strongly believe as Technologists and Architects we must keep learning to keep up with today’s fast paced technology. I have presented at various forums on varied topics (The Open Group, Association of Enterprise Architects, Women Who Code Connect, Grace Hopper Conference India, internal Capgemini forums, Customer forums).
I have been fortunate to help other women continue in their role as technologists. Many women drop out of career or look at roles that are not technical because of biases or personal beliefs that they cannot continue in the technical ladder. However, in my role as a Diversity Ambassador I was able to help them overcome their own inhibitions and go for it.
Being a good architect or technologist is completely up to you, gender really has no role to play there. Some women mentees told me that they look forward to speaking to me and are motivated to continue in IT - this is what I am most proud of.
