Session: Visa Power: Demystifying U.S. Immigration for Women Innovators and Tech Founders
Abstract:
In today’s global tech ecosystem, innovation knows no borders—but immigration law often does. As a female immigration attorney representing engineers, designers, and startup founders from leading companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, and high-growth startups, I’ve seen firsthand how immigration policies shape (and sometimes stifle) the careers of women in tech.
This session will empower international women in STEM and entrepreneurship with a roadmap to navigate the U.S. immigration system. We’ll cover real-world strategies to secure work visas, permanent residency, and startup-friendly pathways like the O-1A, EB-1A, and NIW. We’ll also explore how gender and immigration intersect—highlighting challenges unique to women, from visa restrictions that hinder funding opportunities to systemic biases that impact career mobility.
Attendees will walk away with:
• A clear understanding of the U.S. immigration options available for tech professionals and founders
• Actionable tips for building a strong immigration profile while growing a career or launching a company
• Strategies to advocate for yourself or your employees in a complex immigration system
• Insight into how legal barriers affect women differently—and what we can do to change that
This talk is for international women in tech, allies, HR leaders, and anyone building a more inclusive and borderless future in STEM.
Target Audience:
Women in tech (especially those on student or work visas), startup founders, HR and DEI leaders, immigrant allies, and international talent navigating the U.S. system.
