Session: "Your Chatbot is too sexy": Stolen Female Capital in the Era of AI
In the new hybrid reality that defines the modern world, populated by female chatbots, hyper-sexualized sex robots, and the entertaining female AR characters of the gaming industry, history and society replicate themselves once again. The patriarchal discourse has again appropriated female capital to adapt it to men’s desires and commodify it. At the same time, women are either excluded from the decision-making processes that shape female software agents or forced to accept the patriarchal discourse that has been imposed on them. This presentation, divided into four sections, reviews current design trends for high-end humanoids and conversational agents with a female morphology or personality.
- Emerging models of female software agents are based in their capacity to provide entertaining, emotional, and sexual services. Inclusive design practices need to correct the current projection of femininity in AI.
