Session: 2033: The future of manufacturing in the metaverse

Globally economies and societies are being disrupted by several factors and specifically technological advancements are impacting severely the future of work. Among all the different tech solutions one that is emerging will revolutionize how the world operates: metaverse.
The Metaverse will transform how people interact with each other and with data, creating new communities and economies. According to Gartner, by 2026, around 25% of people will spend at least one hour a day in the metaverse for work, shopping, education, social media, and/ or entertainment.
The metaverse will revolutionize nearly all aspects of life and business in the next decade, allowing collaboration in virtual spaces, augmented physical places and a blend of both. It will also create new lines of business and transform interactions between customers and companies.
The purpose of this conference is to share the research results of a future foresight analysis where I explored the future of manufacturing in the metaverse. The audience will understand the metaverse’s implications in manufacturing, use cases, potential benefits and risks, and explore a potential path forward to be better prepare for the future ahead.

Bio

Gladis Araujo is an accomplished Board Member, C-level, and senior leader specialized in global sustainable supply chains, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and digital transformation. Her progressive career has seen her posted to different territories and cultures from APAC and EMEA to the Americas/LATAM leading transformational project, opening new markets, start up new manufacturing sites, integration and turnover of operations.
She currently works at Mattel Inc. as Global Quality and Supply Chain Vice-president driving the digital transformation for the company, nearshoring initiatives, and value networks. She is the representative of the chamber of commerce Singapore Mexico and board member of several public, non-profit, and government organizations. She is also the founder and president of several non-profit organizations aimed to support children, girls, and women.
Gladis is an award winning Corporate and Social Responsibility ambassador, future foresight strategist, researcher, lifelong learner, thought leader, and global speaker.
She has a bachelor’s in Chemical and Systems Engineering, a master’s in Quality and Manufacturing, a master’s in Organizational Development, a master’s in International Management and currently she is working in her dissertation for the doctorate grade in Business Administration.
