Session: Designing Your Career Like a Product: A Product Manager’s Guide to Personal Strategy

In the fast-paced world of product management, we’re trained to define visions, conduct user research, test ideas, and launch solutions that meet real needs. But what if we applied the same principles to our own careers?

In this empowering and reflective session, Rachel Tao—a product leader with 18 years of global experience in medical devices—shares how treating her career like a product helped her rebuild confidence, gain clarity, and move forward with purpose after multiple transitions, including immigration, layoffs, and burnout.

Whether you’re just starting out, feeling stuck, or navigating a career pivot, this session offers a fresh, product-driven mindset to help you take control of your journey and build a career rooted in purpose, not just titles.

Key Takeaways

  • How to navigate career uncertainty with clarity and resilience
  • Lessons from real-world product leadership challenges—and how to turn them into growth
  • Inspiration to lead authentically, even when the path feels unclear
