Session: Making it as an immigrant woman leader in tech

Being born and educated in India, I found that the cultural playbooks that had worked thus far were not enough anymore. Just working hard and hoping to be recognized would only take me so far in my career. I had to re-evaluate my career growth strategy. This included getting comfortable with self-advocacy, fighting impostor syndrome, and breaking the biases & stereotypes to build an authenticity in leading my teams. In this talk, I would like to share what I learnt through this journey and how multiple cultures have helped shape my career graph.

Key Takeaways

  • Building an authentic style of leadership
  • Self-advocate and bring visibility to your work
  • Getting comfortable outside your comfort zone
