Session: Merging Mind and Machine: The Future of BCIs and Nanotechnology in Human Enhancement
The Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) revolution has begun. Now more than ever, companies are tapping into this technology to improve treatments for traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and stroke patients who have lost their ability to speak or move. However, with these advancements come challenges with invasive surgery-related complications and poor spatial and temporal resolution. In this talk, learn about companies like Subsense which is challenging the status quo, leveraging the first-ever non-surgical, nanoparticle-based bidirectional BCI for direct communication and control of neural activity, offering a new paradigm shift in restoring motor function or enhancing rehabilitation therapies.
Beyond medical use, the potential applications for this technology are profound. Imagine being able to share thoughts and emotions; to seamlessly and easily communicate with others, to build worlds in your mind, to manage mental health and emotion; and finally to merge with the digital world and artificial intelligence. BCI will be the next transformative technology, and with it, we will strive to expand human potential.
