Hello, everyone. Uh Thank you so much for joining this session. I hope that my screen is visible and I'm audible to all of you.Uh You can just put a reply in the chat box so that I could know that my voice is clearly uh audible to the audience. So let's proceed with uh today's session. I'm starting from my introduction. My name is Herne K. I am working as assistant professor in lovely professional university. I am a content creator. I am a lover of cloud technology. I am a global ambassador in women tech network. Uh First of all, I would like to thank this women tech global network for providing such a wonderful opportunity to the women across the globe who can share their knowledge and their experiences uh related to technical and non technical. So today in this session, I am going to discuss about tech innovation in cloud computing and my session will uh be on the integration of internet of things with the cloud. So without wasting any further time, let's begin with what I am going to discuss in this particular session. So I'll begin the session by uh introducing certain facts about cloud computing and its adoption in the market.

Then we will have a little light on the emerging technologies in the field of cloud computing. Then we will understand the fact why cloud and internet of things are related together. And we will discuss about the role of cloud computing in IOT. Then uh the various innovation areas which cloud and IOT has led to the world. We will have a discussion on that and I'll sum up the session by introducing the home automation products and the services that Aws provides to us. So talking about the uh cloud computing, so the on-demand delivery of resources and the services on a rental basis has led the technology to a new era. So this is what cloud computing has uh begin with and has introduced us with. So this is the reason why enterprises are moving towards the adoption of clouds solutions. So I have uh gathered certain facts from the Gartner and Cal's report wherein it's been depicted that 81% of the enterprises uh who have adopted the multi cloud strategy. A few of them have already been migrated to this and others are in the process of migrating their uh data to the cloud. As for the data of uh the panels, by the end of 2020 67% of the enterprise infrastructure was totally being built on the cloud. And uh as Amazon Web services is the bear of the cloud computing. So it is contributing to the largest cloud computing market share, which is 32%. And talking about the top three cloud service providers being it Amazon web services, being it Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

They are contributing 58% of the total cloud spend. This uh is the report of the Gardener's first quarter analysis of 2021. So, apart from that uh from the cloud computing, there are a lot of uh the emerging technologies that have been uh existed. So if I talk about the container technology, which is the advancement in the virtualization world, it has uh you could say that the drive on the world to the next level, then there is a sober less technology which is uh which has just has uh been innovated. And companies have started moving towards the serverless approach here in the service providers are eliminating the need of uh providing the clients with the facility that they have to look for the virtual servers. So what the clients can do, they can directly deploy their applications over the cloud platforms. Each and every aspect related to infrastructure is been taken gear by the cloud service providers. Then there is a microservices architecture approach which is the uh you could say advancement in our extension in the service oriented architecture here in the services have been facilitated with a loosely coupled approach. And then there comes the DeVos field which is also very, very trending in current enterprise scenario here in, we are discussing about uh about the quality of the project delivery where in the developers as well as the operations team, connect together and build these Softwares for the clients.

Then there is the internet of things approach wherein we talk about the smart world, smart devices. It has also been uh considered as the future of uh the world where in all the devices, whether in they are part of your home or of your offices, they all will have the ability to interact, to contribute and to build some sort of analysis. Then talking about the artificial intelligence, which is the another emerging technology in the field of cloud computing, it builds uh with the idea that machines will be provided with some sort of intelligence. A very simple example is the uh the robotics approach that uh the robots that we are working with nowadays either in the smart uh uh malls and in in any other uh area of the market. Then there comes the machine learning, which is the uh subset of artificial intelligence. Only here, the machines are getting trained by using the data by using certain patterns uh and by using some sort of analysis which ultimately uh it is eliminating the need of in uh the intervention of humans while uh making any sort of decisions.

So when we talk about all these emerging technologies in the cloud computing, it is uh hard for me to discuss and describe each and every aspect in this uh time constraint session. So I thought why not to stuck uh to uh with one technology and to get a deep dive into that. So here is the internet of technology and how it is getting integrated with the cloud and providing a solution to us. So when I talk about internet of things are also known as IOT, this is the future of the new generation as per the report by the Gardner, it says over 8 billion of IOT devices were already been active by 2027 which was a huge uh you could say that the change than that of the previous year, that is the 32% increase.

When I talk about internet of things, I talk about the physical devices which could be any device which is part of your home, like it could be a A TV, it could be a air conditioning, it could be your refrigerator or it could be any another equipment uh which you have provided with some sensors or uh and uh is generating some sort of data, that kind of thing.

When these all devices are able to act smartly, to behave smartly to make some decisions, smart decisions without the intervention of humans, then this will let the future of the world. So let's talk about the uh the basic facts. Why we are saying that the IOT is going to be the future of the world. So here I have presented three basic facts. First is the adoption of the IOT based devices in the market. So as if you can see the trend how from 2015 till 2025 which is the prediction that this over 75 billion devices will be installed. By that time, how the adoption of these devices has gradually been increased. Then talking about the basic uh the biggest it sharks which have adopted this technology. So there is a soft bank which is uh which has invested $32 billion in just uh taking these the in the acquisition of the internet of things technology. Then followed by Samsung, Google Verizon and many more uh companies are coming. Then when we talk about the most important use cases or the areas where we are currently deploying the cloud com uh the uh the cloud computing and the concept of internet of things. Then we can see that manufacturing operations field is spending more uh on the uh uh on the adoption of IOT based devices. Then there comes the production asset management, smart home systems and freight monitoring systems.

So when we talk about all of these uh use cases, we talk about that how the future is to be designed because IOT being um making everything smart in our day to day life is going to be here and will be here in the next generation as well. Right. So how its success is uh or it's it can be measured with the uh cloud scenario. This is the next uh step which I would like to demonstrate here. So cloud is playing a very, very important role in the success of Internet of things cloud, which is having, which is providing us the anywhere anytime access facility is providing the cloud service providers, the facility that they are developing the IOT based suits, which is helping the establishment of the IOT based devices throughout the globe.

And the another aspect where cloud is playing a vital role is that it is providing flexibility for the IOT based devices. Whenever you want more devices, you can easily and flexibility, scale them to the high range and you want to dep provision, you can just quickly dep provision those resources and devices. So this is not only uh working in case of IOT and the expansion of the technology also a lot of cost is also getting saved here. So talking about the security aspects when we work in the cloud computing cloud is taking the uh the advantage. It is providing the advantage to the uh the service pro uh consumers that uh they are taking the responsibility of providing the security to the uh the services which are being consumed here. When uh I talk about the IOT devices, their updates their patch fixing, right? And the end to end the delivery of the and the secure delivery of devices. Then cloud takes into the picture la last but not the least collaborative facilities also been associated with the cloud computing. As we uh already discussed the remote access uh of this, this cloud computing is actually the main thing through which a different people which are sitting in different parts of the sphere are working collaboratively in building the IOT based solutions.

This not only uh is providing us the facility to build the uh quality based projects, but also it is uh uh providing us the facility to work in time constraints manner and to build uh the product delivery in a very uh you could say that the be beforehand. So this all features are leading to the success of internet of technology in the field of the uh cloud and uh vice versa. Then there comes the another point when I would like to say that cloud computing and IOD in a way they are tightly coupled approaches. When we talk about how they are tightly coupled, then this is a complete process being described here, we start from the end devices which could be any kind of device being it uh your uh home, uh any uh home component, being it a refrigerator, being it your smart TV, which is the source of the data.

You just uh it could also be any sort of sensor being attached to those devices that data uh that source of data is being provided. Then it needs a a secure communication channel which has been provided by the gateways being used. So when we have that secure communication channel, then it the data reaches the cloud. Then the actual processing of the data takes place. Cloud provides the facility to remotely uh provide the storage facility uh in the real time manner for the transfer of the data in real scenarios as well as in processing the data. So this is how the concept of IOT is taking the picture. Next is the innovation areas where both cloud computing and IOT are actually uh you know, spreading. So uh if I talk about the things that uh with the help of cloud computing, it has become uh possible that we are now using the concept of IOT in various spheres. Talking about the smart city concept, talking about the home automation system, talking about the electronic devices and other variables, talking about the industries, talking about the smart uh uh uh transport systems and environmentals as well as the healthcare sector. So uh as per the current report by the Forbes, it's been estimated that approximately 646 million IOT devices are being used in the healthcare sector uh in 2020. So this could be either installed in the clinics or in the healthcare offices.

So it means they have covered the entire healthcare sector. So this is how we can see that the uh IOT is booming along with the cloud computing. Moving ahead. Uh there is a uh annual IOT World Awards uh been there where in the best solution providers for this technology are been avoided uh awarded. So in the last they held in August 2020 wherein the best consumer Iot solution of award is been uh backed by Aws Iot. So Aws Iot is providing a complete suit of IOT based solutions here. I have presented uh some of the services which IOT provides uh starting from the Amazon Free It OS which is the operating system for the microcontrollers. Then there is the Amazon green grass in there, which is a gateway to bring the cloud capabilities to next level. Then there is aws IOT code which is a secure device connectivity and messaging service. Then we are having the IOT device management in there. This service help in uh providing a complete management and it takes care of the software updates and uh it all, it also takes care of the fleet on boarding. So then when we talk about Aws Iot device defender, this is the another service which helped in providing the protection and audits. Then we are having aws iot analytics in there whose sole purpose is to perform the data analytics and intelligence.

So along with Aws, there are another uh service vendors too like Azure and GCP who are also having uh their complete IOT suit uh with the help of which they are building uh taking this IOT based applications and building the IOT based solutions and presenting it to the world.

Then uh here is the Aws Home automation in action like how using these all these services being IOT core being this uh green grass being this RT OS, how they are actually assisting in providing the home automation based services. So firstly, uh IOT cores uh services there which works in the integration of Alexa right, its sole purpose is to provide a scalable cloud vacant for the smart gadgets which are attached within our home. Then secondly, there comes the uh free RT OS which is a basically a device uh whose sole purpose is to connect to uh the microcontroller based devices to look at their connectivity, to look at their security and to update them at any point of time. So microcontroller based devices can be uh such as the light bulbs in there which are uh in everyone's home. Then third, uh we are having the Aws green grass which acts as a gateway which is uh when there is a connection loss with the cloud. Then this service takes into picture for making and for generating the continuity in the delivery of the uh devices. Then uh last but not the least as we discussed that we are having a wide range of uh services being available in the cloud uh uh based uh aws IOT suit.

So we are having IOT device defender, IOT analytics and uh the other services which add more benefits and features to the uh to provide the cloud based solutions. So with this uh when we are using the IOT suit, so actually how the innovation they are providing within the AWS they work in providing the innovation to the devices as well as to innovate the cloud computing. So when I talk about the device innovation, we are getting the innovation in context of the device connectivity in terms of the device security, in terms of providing them a secure communication channel, in terms of providing quick updates to them. Then when we talk about how innovation has been there in context of cloud computing, then this is providing a reliable and persistent communication. Uh the uh act of providing the responsiveness, the management of devices. Uh And the last but not the least, the total cost of ownership has been uh you could say that it get it's getting reduced at an enormous rate when we are working with the Aws Iot suit. So this was all about how the integration of cloud and IOT takes into picture, I would like to say here that cloud is the backbone of all the technologies being it iot being it containers or being it any other services.

Now, when we talk about the concept of internet of things, we also can contribute uh and talk about fog computing edge computing. These all are the services and the technologies which work in collaboration with the cloud computing only. So thank you so much for joining the session.
