    Reflecting on My Journey

As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?

Receiving this recognition is an honour, but above all, a great responsibility. It represents the value of the work we have been building at Mirlo Blanco Health Care, where my 28 years of experience as a nurse come together with technological innovation in health, alongside my technologist partners, who bring more than ten years of expertise in AI solutions for digital health.

This award reflects the importance of female leadership in digital health and digital transformation, and it validates our mission: to humanize technology, promote ethical and accessible solutions, and improve people’s lives through artificial intelligence and digital health.

For me, this recognition symbolizes the progress of many women who are shaping a new technological future—one that is inclusive, ethical, and socially responsible.

    Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects

In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?

In my experience, the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry is its real ability to generate immediate impact and improve people’s lives. Coming from a clinical background allows me to view technology not as an end in itself, but as a means to empower both professionals and patients.
The tech industry has provided a space where my two vocations—care and innovation—merge naturally. This synergy has profoundly shaped my professional journey, allowing me to lead projects ranging from virtual assistants and AI-powered health agents to intelligent simulators for emergency services, all aimed at solving real challenges within healthcare systems.

Above all, the most enriching part has been meeting remarkable people and professionals, such as my partner Felipe Segura, who has taught me that technology has no meaning unless it is designed with purpose and with a heart beating behind it. It is truly a pleasure to work with him and with every member of our team.

    My Tech Career Milestone

Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?

One of the most meaningful moments was the development of MarIA Health Care, the first AI-based virtual agent for the comprehensive health of women, designed from a gender-sensitive, ethical, and public health perspective. This project has not only had clinical and educational impact but has also generated scientific
evidence and became the foundation of my master’s research.

Another key milestone was leading the development of an intelligent simulator for emergency teleoperators (112) within the CAETRA programme, demonstrating how AI can enhance decision-making in critical situations. These projects affirmed my belief that nursing can—and must—lead technological innovation in health.

Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips

From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?

I would share three key ideas:

    1. Don’t wait to feel “ready.” Impostor syndrome is common. In tech, learning happens by doing, and we all start from a similar place.
    2. Surround yourself with a community that lifts you up. Collaborating, sharing, and asking for help is essential. Professional networks—like WomenTech Network—are invaluable.
    3. Stay true to who you are. Technology needs diverse perspectives. Your background—whether clinical, social, or technical—offers unique value. Whatever you do, hold onto your essence, your values, and your roots; that is what makes you different.

Above all, remember that women not only belong in technology—they can lead it.

Who would you recommend to join the WomenTech Network, and why?

I would recommend WomenTech Network to any woman who wants to grow in the tech field while being part of a global community that nurtures talent, provides real opportunities, and fosters an inclusive environment. WomenTech is a space where achievements are celebrated and new possibilities are created. Its global reach and ability to connect women and allies around the world make it an essential network for anyone seeking a tech career with social purpose.

Moreover, being part of WomenTech aligns deeply with my personal and professional purpose: I firmly believe that we can always do things better when we combine innovation, vision, and teamwork.

As Florence Nightingale—a fundamental reference in my path—said: “If there were no one who felt discontented with what they have, the world would never reach anything better.” This quote captures the spirit that guides my work and that of Mirlo Blanco Health Care: a form of “extraordinary restlessness,” a constructive drive to transform and improve both care and technology. Shall we begin?
