As Chief Information Officer of IBM, Kathryn Guarini leads an impressive group of 12,000 employees. Before her appointment to CIO, she was the Chief Operating Officer for IBM Research and Vice President for Impact Science - roles where she highlighted impactful technical eminence while also improving operations efficiency. Her commitment to transformation helped propel IBM Research into success.


Throughout her tenure at IBM, Kathryn has held a plethora of leadership roles in research, development and business. She is devoted to leading teams that implement new technologies to address the ever-evolving demands of IT customers. In addition, she proudly participates on multiple committees such as the Acceleration Team, Technology Team and Cybersecurity Advisory Committee among others like Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Inclusion Diversity External Advisory Board and NCEAI.
