We are seeking a Specialist who can lead and oversee the efforts of the vendor service partners and Enbridge contractors. They also provide technical oversight and leadership to the Business Units on Data and Analytics Services (DAS) service offerings to ensure data products meet the overall stability and optimal performance criteria. This role requires working closely with business relationship managers and other stakeholders to align data engineering services and achieve the objectives and key results of Enterprise Data and Analytics Services. The successful candidate will have experience in business analysis and application support with proven ability to improve and build new processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Understands strategic imperatives of the business and conducts value assessments to support prioritization of opportunities, including management initiatives related to the data analytics portfolio through planning, budgeting, stakeholder management, risk/issue management, and status reporting.
  • Acts as a liaison between DAS and external analytics service providers, partners with business relationship managers, business users, portfolio architects, functional and product owners, data analysts, solution and data architects, and data scientists to identify and develop data engineering use cases with attention to cloud computing (batch, micro-batch, or stream processing) and storage.
  • Leads data engineering from a development and project standpoint and provides experienced recommendations for data engineering product design and know-how to address business needs. Partner with TIS Functional teams in delivery and sustainment of data analytics product needs.
  • Provides strategic and expert mentorship in development of data engineering models and ensures processes and solution components conform to technical functionality (e.g., preparation of high-quality data, security, performance, scalability, data recovery, and reliability).
  • Role models behaviors required to drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, including understanding data solutions, recommending new approaches for data transformation and data provisioning, and implementing analytics standard processes for
  • data engineering.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field and 7+ years progressively professional experience in a computer engineering role
  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering and big data analytics technologies, including analytical data stores (e.g., Delta tables, Data Lakehouse architecture), performance tuning and optimization, machine learning, advanced visualization, and automation
  • Hands on experience Azure Databricks and implementation of data products using the lakehouse architecture.
  • Technical experience in leading the development of data engineering pipelines using Databricks and integrating them into cloud-based analytical solutions working in collaboration with data ingestion, data engineering, data provisioning, data visualization, and data science teams
  • Sophisticated level knowledge of relational, NoSQL, or NewSQL database systems; data modeling; and managing structured and unstructured data.
  • Advanced algorithm design and production programming skills in Python, Scala, Kafka, Hive, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, REST API, and other related coding languages with demonstrable experience using Apache Spark and designing relevant data structures, algorithms, and techniques related to systems that support high volume, velocity, or variety datasets including apps that apply machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI).
  • Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically with deep knowledge and understanding of business needs and drivers with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and promotes a culture of collaboration, transparency, and safety.
