"In my professional career I have been acknowledged a number of times with prestigious awards. However, being the Global Gold Winner of the WomenTech Network Global Awards 2024 in the category “Women in Tech Community Award (Individual/Public Voting)” is highly valuable for me, since it is based on public community voting. I consider the numerous votes (21.8K) I have received throughout the campaign the biggest recognition for my impact in tech and my general contribution to the cause of women’s equality and inclusion."

As a woman technology professional, after reflecting on receiving the Women in Tech Global Award 2024, I’d emphasize the importance of mentorship in career development, particularly for early-career individuals. Empowering Women in Tech: Career Advice and Tips
From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to aspiring women in tech to establish a successful career?
Firstly, a good educational background is needed, along with additional courses and certifications, so that they are constantly up-to-date with the latest tools and trends. Secondly, it’s a good idea to find a mentor and develop adequate soft skills. Women aspiring to pursue a career in tech should make wise career decisions by adapting to work trends and the changes in the job market. These women have to always bear in mind that the chosen field is extremely demanding and highly competitive, primarily led by men, so they should aim for work-life balance first, while not allowing disregard and disparaging attitude, and never settling down with a lower position or lower pay range than men in the same position.
My golden advice is: no position or company can bring back the priceless lost moments of personal life, and every company can and will continue running with/without a particular employee!
Elitsa Krumova, Global Thought Leader & B2B Tech Influencer at elitsakrumova.com
To succeed in tech, women should own their expertise and build confidence by trusting their skills, speaking up, and advocating for their ideas. Building a strong professional network and seeking mentorship are essential for growth and support. Continuous learning through courses and certifications helps stay competitive in this fast-changing field.
Resilience and adaptability are key to navigating challenges and turning setbacks into opportunities for growth. Developing a strong personal brand showcases your unique strengths and thought leadership.
Embrace leadership roles early to build influence and advocate for diversity and inclusion, creating environments where innovation thrives. Never underestimate your potential to make an impact—your journey paves the way for others while shaping the future of tech.
Gloryvee Cordero, Chief Executive Officer at Depth AI
Curious by nature, my advice to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech is to stay curious and follow your interests. When you focus on what genuinely excites you, learning becomes enjoyable—and in tech, continuous learning is essential, as the field is always evolving. Seek out areas of technology that naturally spark your enthusiasm, as your passion will not only fuel your growth but also inspire those around you. By bringing your unique perspective and energy to the table, you’ll create a meaningful impact while showcasing the value of diversity and individuality in driving innovation.
Kerry Brown, Lead Transformation Evangelist at Celonis
Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Tech is constantly evolving, and you will face challenges—but that's where growth happens. As Master Shifu wisely said, "If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than who you are." Don't shy away from challenging projects; never let imposter syndrome steal your confidence. Dig knowledge sources, find mentors who will push you, surround yourself with a network of like-minded women, and always remember that your voice is valuable. And above all, embrace failure as a stepping stone to success. Remember, extend your arms, and you can even reach the moon.
Rupali Patil, Senior AI, Product & Strategy Leader at Lenovo
From my experience, the most essential advice I would offer to women aspiring to build a successful career in tech is to stay confident in your abilities, seek continuous learning, and build a supportive network.
First, don’t underestimate your potential. Tech can sometimes feel like an intimidating field, but remember that your unique perspective is invaluable, and everyone starts somewhere. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and always seek opportunities to learn and grow. The industry moves fast, and staying curious and adaptable is key to long-term success.
Second, actively invest in developing technical skills and knowledge, but also focus on soft skills—like communication, collaboration, and problem-solving—that are equally important. Building both technical and leadership capabilities will set you apart and open doors for growth.
Lastly, find mentors and surround yourself with a supportive network of peers, both men and women. Having a mentor who understands the challenges you face can be incredibly helpful for navigating career decisions and overcoming obstacles. Don’t be afraid to lean on other women in the field—building relationships with others facing similar challenges can be empowering and provide opportunities for growth.
Most importantly, remember that success doesn’t happen overnight, and every step forward—no matter how small—is progress. Keep pushing boundaries, stay resilient, and celebrate your wins along the way.
