The Role: 

Our team is looking for a Principal Engineer to join a team of engineering leaders to help shape Kobo’s e-commerce software landscape. At Kobo we develop software to cover a rich set of domains - hardware devices, eCommerce, content rendering, and a burgeoning data ecosystem.  

If you like to coach, collaborate, mentor, be creative, get your hands dirty, and generally just get lit-up by solving hard problems with a team of highly engaged people, you’ll fit right in.

• Work cross-functionally to architect solutions to complex problems, delivering proposals that are flexible, robust and taking into account business needs. 

• Collaborate with teams to help them implement and test new features.

Who You Are: 

• 10+ years of experience building and maintaining high-quality software 

• Experience building e-commerce systems at scale and leading transformation  

• Great communication skills both with technical engineers and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Great at mentoring other developers, being an evangelist for best practices 

• Deep understanding of various architectural patterns and the tradeoffs therein  

• Strong experience with both .NET and Java  

• Experience with both development and operational aspects of software systems 

• Experience with messaging systems, document databases
