For many women in tech, success is no longer defined by linear progression or constant visibility. It is defined by alignment. In my own journey, I have deliberately customised my career to accommodate both professional ambition and the realities of parenthood. This has meant holding a technical role while also building my own start-up, rather than choosing one path at the expense of the other. Customisation, for me, is about control over pace, focus, and energy. It is the ability to decide when to lean into growth and when to prioritise stability, without interpreting either choice as failure. Flexible structures, whether through negotiated working arrangements or entrepreneurship, allow women to remain technically relevant while staying present in their families. By designing careers that fit their lives, rather than reshaping their lives to fit rigid career models, women in tech are setting new standards for sustainable success.
