Required Skills and Experience

Commercial IT experience of 8+ Yrs., industry knowledge and at least 1 - 3 years IT testing experience coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications.

Essential capabilities (core)

• Strong technical documentation/interpretation and communication skills.

• Understanding business issues linked to the applications being tested.

• Willingness to learn new technology skills to keep pace with the improvements of the testing process.

• Problem analysis skills.

Other capabilities (technical)

• Undertake complex testing activities in relation to software solutions ensuring these meet agreed specifications

• Develop comprehensive test scripts/scenarios based on testing plan in accordance with standard procedures/templates

• Execute test cases, check and document results to ensure the system#s technical, functional and non-functional (e.g. elementary load testing) requirements are met

• Contribute to testing of any actions taken to rectify users# problems to ensure user and system requirements are met and that changes integrate with production system

• Make initial diagnosis of problems, for a system or sub-system or apply known solutions, including documenting problems, progress checking, and escalation to ensure resolution

• Appropriately use progress/tracking tools and complete administration activities

• Test, launch and help train users in new systems

• Work with business users (in conjunction with Business Analysts) to clarify requirements, resolve issues

• Database-centric skills especially SQL, storproc, DB connections

• Mainframe DB knowledge

• Identity and Access Management (how DB accounts work)

• Test execution/run knowledge using powershell, bash

Key Accountabilities :

• Delivering quality application change across various platforms through analysis, planning, creation and execution of User Acceptance Test designs, cases and procedures.

• Liaising with business users, business analysts and developers to ensure that planned testing meets their requirements.

• Acquiring and analysing all relevant documents for assigned projects to determine testing requirements.

• Consulting on testing matters to business/project

• Executing Test cases for all assigned projects/enhancements (Independently run Testing using Unix scripting, SQLs).

• Raising any defects found during test and escalating in accordance with set procedures.

• Tracking progress of allocated test designs and test cases to ensure testing deadlines will be met.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science / information systems or equivalent technical qualification
