This role focuses on supporting the elaboration of detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, and ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met. Projects may include the approval of new buildings, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts.
Key responsibilities include:
Review and approve drawings of safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment on ships, offshore units, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations.
Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment.
Provide support for detailed marine engineering plan review, resolution of conflicting design requirements, and material standards.
Oversee day-to-day project elements, including site visits and documentation submission.
Prepare technical reports, project performance documents, and engineering drawings.
Manage simple projects applying project management concepts.
Assess minor structural problems and answer contractor questions as liaison between engineering and construction personnel.
1+ year of experience with safety management systems, safety plan evaluation, or safety-related projects in the maritime industry
Solid understanding of maritime safety regulations (SOLAS, ISM Code, IMO, MARPOL) and their application in ship safety plan approval
Knowledge of shipboard safety systems, including fire safety systems, life-saving appliances, and emergency evacuation procedures
Experience conducting safety assessments and reviewing safety documentation (risk assessments, safety plans)
Proficiency in safety audits, inspections, and risk evaluations
Strong communication and reporting skills to document findings and recommend safety improvements
