To encourage young women, it is imperative for STEM education to bridge the gap between code and hands-on hardware early on. Having been one of the only girls in my STEM lessons in sixth form, I know what the feeling of the impostor syndrome is like. What kept me engaged was the support of encouraging teachers, who introduced us to hardware-software integration- like building circuits and microcontrollers alongside the coding progress. When educators actively support female students in male-dominated classrooms and use the resources of the classroom effectively to integrate cross-disciplinary learning, it gives them the confidence to pursue advanced engineering fields.
