The Sales Manager will lead and inspire a high-performing sales team focused on the Medium Business segment, with a primary focus on Payroll and HR solutions. This role is responsible for driving new business acquisition, expanding Sage’s customer base through the onboarding of new logos, and delivering consistent revenue growth.



The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening relationships with customers and Business Partners through regular face-to-face engagement, strategic account management, and consultative business analysis. By identifying opportunities within existing and prospective accounts, the Sales Manager will ensure sustainable growth, profitability, and exceptional customer experience aligned with annual revenue targets.



Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office.

• Lead and manage a Medium Business sales team, fostering a high-performance, results-driven culture.

• Develop team members to exceed goals using a multifaceted approach, including coaching, training, goal-setting, performance tracking, and implementation of development plans.

• Drive team dynamics, motivation, and accountability to ensure quota attainment per product line.

• Analyze key performance metrics (KPIs), extract actionable insights, and maintain dashboards and reports to track quarterly performance.

• Build strong, collaborative relationships across teams and with Business Partners to enhance overall business performance.

• Ensure fast and effective execution of sales initiatives and strategies within the team.

• Forecast monthly and quarterly sales volumes to support budgeting and resource planning, and present results to the leadership team.

• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of Account Sales Managers.

• Collaborate with sales operations to ensure pipeline quality, opportunity management, and accurate forecasting.

• Oversee high-level project management of all new contracts and services for assigned clients.

• Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities, providing strategic recommendations to leadership.



Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Must-Have)



• Proven leadership in dynamic and changing environments, with the ability to drive results through others.

• Experience in building and developing high-performing teams, including process and procedure development.

• Self-starter, independent thinker, and solution-oriented with strong business acumen.

• Track record in strategic planning and execution, monitoring objectives, and adjusting plans to achieve desired outcomes.

• Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills across functions and with senior management.

• Ability to influence decisions, negotiate effectively, and drive policy adoption.

• Excellent listening, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to sell creatively at all decision-making levels.



Technical / Professional Qualifications



• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or a related field.

• 5+ years B2B sales or business development experience, preferably in Payroll or HR solutions.

• 5+ years management experience (beneficial).
