Bloomberg runs on data, and data drives the market. Our Data team acquires and supplies this data to our clients. Teams work collaboratively to collect, analyse, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets. 

The Role: 

As a Data Analyst on the Physical Assets Data team, you'll help grow Bloomberg's clean energy databases to further deliver an industry-leading data product offering. You will use your data management and problem-solving skills to maintain the workflow of extracting, transforming and loading of timely, accurate and comprehensive data across various Bloomberg platforms. You'll work in a hands-on and creative role executing upon a variety of projects to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and implement technical solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes. Our Data Analysts possess a unique combination of subject-matter-expertise in the energy industry, strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with various stakeholders, as well as interest in technology (or data management related tools). You'll collaborate closely with both our Data counterparts and our Product team in Princeton, New York, London and Asia.  

We’ll trust you to:

  • Procure content to support best-in-class coverage of the clean energy projects datasets 
  • Perform quality control to ensure data accuracy by inspecting Bloomberg data values and comparing them to source documents 
  • Design and manage workflow configurations for critical functions such as acquisition, worklist management and quality control 
  • Perform incident management, from troubleshooting and root cause analysis to overall problem management 
  • Build subject matter expertise to eventually set and maintain methodologies for data management 
  • Provide in-depth customer support to users of Bloomberg data products by resolving inquiries in a timely manner 
  • Analyse internal processes to identify opportunities for improvement, as well as devise and implement innovative solutions 
  • Lead ad-hoc projects to optimise processes and improve the quality of the datasets 
  • Report on results of on-going operations and projects, as required 
  • Partner with a wide variety of stakeholders from Engineering to Sales on product development 

You’ll need to have: 

  • 2-5 years of working experience in the renewable industry, including energy storage, battery manufacturing, solar, wind etc.
  • Minimum 1 year of data management experience, for example improving data quality, accuracy, efficiency or timeliness
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Energy Economics or a related degree 
  • Strong passion for data and the overall energy transition movement 
  • The ability to think creatively and provide out of the box solutions with an eagerness to learn and collaborate 
  • Adaptability in a frequently changing environment and growing market 
  • A proven track record of successful project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly 
  • Interest and/or experience in client and stakeholder management 
  • Interest in and aptitude for technology 
  • Familiarity with data processing paradigms and associated tools and technologies 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill in English and Chinese Mandarin

We’d love to see:

  • Previous work experience with the Bloomberg Terminal or Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) certification 
  • Knowledge of SQL/Python querying language 
  • Experience in semantic structures or data modelling   
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense or Splunk
