Bhargavi Kalicheti Bio (LinkedIn)
I am a Lead AI/ML Engineer at UnitedHealth Group, Optum, where I design and deploy conversational, generative, and agentic AI systems for healthcare. I have spent 15 years in enterprise technology. I began at Infosys Technologies in 2011 as a Technology Analyst, modernizing legacy applications and moving tightly coupled systems toward modular, service-based designs. In 2017 I joined Optum, where my work grew from rule-based IVR call flows into ML and NLP-driven conversation, then into Generative AI and multi-agent architectures that support member, provider, and pharmacy interactions for Optum Rx and UnitedHealthcare. My expertise sits where AI engineering meets regulated healthcare. I work across LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, custom speech models, and agent guardrails, and I evaluate GenAI and Agentic AI proofs of concept for scalability, safety, and compliance before enterprise rollout. I co-authored an invention disclosure for GPT-4 based NLU innovations, and a customer-insight AI experience I delivered earned a Stevie Gold Award in 2023. I hold a PG Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.Tech in Information Technology from SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. Today my focus is generative voice AI that changes how healthcare providers reach the services they need.
