Prerna Mahajan Bio
Prerna Mahajan is an innovative leader and serves as Portfolio Oversight and Strategic Technology Chief at the Department of Social Services with the State of California, USA. Before joining the public service, she was the Program Manager at Deloitte Consulting LLP where she led and managed multiple large scale IT projects and reported to senior firm and client leadership. She is currently acting in a highly visible and cross-organizational leadership role to successfully formulate the strategy and implement innovative solutions at the statewide level to better serve the employees and vulnerable families.Prerna is a champion of user-centered design approach and innovative solutions. Her direct actions and focused leadership has been instrumental in modernizing the project delivery, formulating business and IT strategy, Cloud Smart adoption, digital experience and data analytics. She brings a can-do attitude to drive the end-to-end delivery of multiple projects with world-class technology solutions. In her short tenure with the State of California, she has been pivotal in delivering the statewide Human Resources System leveraged by more than 250,000 employees and social services solutions to help needy families and kids. She leads her teams by encouraging and empowering others to achieve goals by creating enthusiasm, a feeling of investment, and a desire to excel.
With her passion to serve and mentor others, she has been mentoring many women and men as LeanIn Circle Leader, Ambassador of global Women in Technology forums, Diversity & Inclusion committees and through statewide Leadership academies. She is also founder of Meeraan foundation with her two kids to bring awareness on how families and kids can contribute back to the community. She loves to explore new places and food and is an avid yoga, meditation and HIIT workout practitioner.
