Sumaiyya Fatima Bio (LinkedIn)

I am a Senior Software Engineer in System Calibration and Test at General Motors in Warren, Michigan, where I develop Body Controls configuration and performance calibrations for GM vehicle programs in Compartments and Closures. My work sits where embedded control software, test automation, and engineering process meet. I have spent more than a decade in automotive and heavy-equipment software, starting with C and C++ work on locomotive simulators, then Hardware-in-the-Loop validation of electro-hydraulic controls for Caterpillar wheel loaders. At GM I built real-time Simulink plant models and automated HIL test procedures for powertrain, chassis, and active safety controllers, and trained validation engineers to run those benches. From 2022 to 2025 I was an SDV Software Modeling Engineer, modeling software interfaces in RSMT and Vector DaVinci AUTOSAR, implementing diagnostic services, and leading code reviews with my team. Today I lead troubleshooting for complex system issues across programs and support calibration reviews with software strategists and technical specialists. My current focus is automating calibration workflows in Python so engineers spend their time on engineering, not administration. I hold a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler, earned with a 4.0 GPA, and I am a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
