Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and expand new and existing relationships across the South Korean market to initiate, grow, and retain subscriptions and licensing agreements for Springer Nature’s portfolio of products and services, consistently meeting or exceeding annual sales targets.
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts, preparing formal quotations and responding promptly to inquiries from direct customers, agents, and third-party vendors. Act as a key liaison between customers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and monitor all account activity within the territory, including new business development and renewals across all electronic and digital products.
- Promote, coordinate, and track product trials, following up effectively to convert trials into subscriptions or licenses.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline within defined CRM and reporting systems, providing weekly forecasts, projections, and account updates in line with internal reporting requirements.
- Support the development and execution of sales and marketing strategies, contributing to both top-down corporate initiatives and bottom-up local market plans, from planning and implementation through to execution and evaluation.
- Continuously build and maintain local market intelligence, including customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends, and proactively recommend appropriate commercial and strategic responses.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Springer Nature’s products, platforms, pricing models, and licensing strategies, and effectively communicate value propositions to end-users, consortia, and distribution partners.
- Prepare and submit regular sales, activity, and market reports, as well as travel and training plans, to the line manager in a timely and structured manner.
- Represent Springer Nature at key library conferences, exhibitions, and industry events within South Korea, strengthening brand presence and professional relationships.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by the line manager to support broader business objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ successful experience in direct solution or consultative sales within a major publishing, information, or related knowledge-based industry.
- Demonstrated experience selling digital or web-based platforms and content solutions to academic, research, government, or corporate customers.
- Strong understanding of licensing models, subscription-based products, and institutional buying processes.
- Fluency in Korean, with a good command of spoken and written English required for regional and global collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Salesforce.com is strongly preferred.
- High level of professionalism, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a regional and global team.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within South Korea as required to meet customers, attend events, and support business growth.
