What We’re Learning About Building Belonging

At GE HealthCare, we’re on a culture journey—one that prioritizes belonging as a foundation for how we lead, collaborate, and innovate.

In July, we brought together colleagues from across the globe for our Culture & Belonging Forum: two days of honest dialogue, shared experiences, and practical exploration of what it means to build a healthy culture—at scale, and in everyday moments.

    Here’s what stood out:

    • Belonging is built through action. Culture shows up in the little things: the way we listen, how we ask questions, and who gets invited in. The small stuff adds up – moments make movements.

    • Culture lives in the choices we make. Whether in how we hire, how we lead meetings, or how we develop people, culture is embedded in operations. It shows up in systems, decisions, and habits.

    • Teams thrive when leaders lead with inclusion. Being a global company is a gift, but it doesn’t automatically create belonging. It takes thoughtful leadership to ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and valued—no matter where they sit or what they do.

Nobody had all the answers—and that was the point. We’re still learning. We’re trying. We’re evolving. And we know that building a culture of belonging for all is never a one-time effort—it’s a daily practice that we must do together. By learning from one another and celebrating our diverse perspectives and experiences, we’re shaping how we work and how we care for patients and communities around the world.
