New Relic is looking for a Lead Financial Systems Engineer to help our Business Applications team scale our financial software stack! This role will drive the design, development, and implementation of custom tools, scripts, and process flows in a variety of SaaS platforms, ranging from ERPs and billing systems to revenue recognition software and integration platforms. 

As a senior role, an ideal candidate will have both deep and broad experience working with financial systems and acting as an engineering lead. They should be able to tackle the most challenging projects the business has, while mentoring and supporting other engineers as they grow in their professional journey. This individual will be hungry for knowledge and ready to implement the newest features and functionality across a complex architecture, and will help guide engineers, QA, and BSA personnel to deliver stable and scalable deliverables. We’re looking for people who enjoy designing solutions to solve problems rather than focusing on completing tasks as fast as possible. 
What you'll do
  • Use a combination of SaaS technology and software engineering to solve use cases in our financial and ancillary systems
  • Tackle the most challenging engineering problems end-to-end, from system design and development to operability and scalability
  • Drive the technical implementation of financial digital transformations, including but not limited to new platforms and architectures 
  • Provide high quality and adaptable deliverables in a rapid growth environment
  • Take initiative to improve our existing stack, ranging from bug fixes to enhancements
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team of PMs, Engineers, QA, BSAs, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions for our Finance, Product, and GTM teams
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers
This role requires
  • 8+ years in software engineering or financial systems roles
  • Knowledge of Javascript/Suitescript, Liquid, and SQL. Java is a plus.
  • Architectural experience in the quote-to-cash space, especially regarding billing and accounting
  • Background in SaaS billing platforms, including Zuora, Avalara, and Braintree
  • Expertise working with ERP platforms like Netsuite, Oracle, or SAP
  • Proper SLDC processes, including automated deployments with tools like Jenkins, backups with Git, and instrumented monitoring (with New Relic!)
  • Familiarity with REST APIs
  • A deep understanding of financial use cases and business processes
  • Recognizes the importance of continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to streamline/optimize current practices in order to shorten delivery schedules, improve quality, and/or increase efficiency
  • BONUS: Experience with usage-based billing models
