Fostering true inclusivity requires intentional action beyond good intentions. , I have been able to overcome gender bias through;
• Amplifying diverse voices within my organization; actively seeking perspectives from women of different races, ages, abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and gender identities.
• Creating platforms where these voices lead discussions rather than simply participate.
• Examining my group's accessibility barriers by ensuring administrative checks such as are meetings held at times accommodating different time zones and caregiving responsibilities? Is your communication available in multiple formats for those with disabilities? Do your events require financial resources that exclude some members?
• Mentoring and sponsoring women from underrepresented communities, which buttress the efficacy of mentorship that provides guidance and sponsorship that opens doors through platforms such as Women in Tech Network. Using your privilege to advocate for others in rooms where decisions are made.
• Challenging homogeneity in panels, leadership, and recognition and when diversity is lacking, i will look into it and work to change it.
• Addressing microaggressions when they occur by educating the groups on how these comments/words affect others which can lead to psychological crisis.
Finally, i measure my impact, track demographic representation in leadership roles and program participation and regularly solicit feedback from unseen members about their experiences.
