The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backup Specialist to lead strategic initiatives in backup environments, ensuring security, efficiency, and compliance. This role combines hands-on technical execution with strategic consulting, supporting critical projects and delivering robust backup solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new components and improvements for backup tools;
• Develop capacity solutions for backup repositories (local storage, tape, cloud, etc.);
• Establish and maintain backup routines, including data immutability, integrity checks, redundancy, and offsite storage;
• Plan and execute system upgrade activities;
• Conduct risk assessments, business impact analyses, and technical evaluations;
• Evaluate and implement security best practices;
• Develop and maintain incident recovery and crisis management plans;
• Perform cost-benefit and risk analyses in backup environments.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Required solid experience in enterprise backup environments as NetBackup, Networker, Veeam, Azure Backup, AWS Backup, Commvault and Cohesity;  
• Strong knowledge of storage solutions and data protection technologies;
• Strategic mindset with the ability to propose improvements and ensure system resilience;
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor, guiding stakeholders on best practices and technical decisions;
• Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams;
• Certification in Veritas Certified Professional (VCP) is a plus;
• Experience in consulting;
• Native Portuguese; intermediate English (preferred).

Required Technical and Professional Experience:

• Deep expertise within specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
• Enterprise IT application experience
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or systems architecture in public cloud AWS domain
• In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
• Must have experience driving for engineering solutions and working across teams
• Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce conclusions and responses.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
• Strong process improvement experience
• In depth knowledge of Amazon cloud hosting architecture with experience with AWS and Azure is a bonus
• Exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities
• Familiar with a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
• Logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
