Maria Wirzberger Bio
Maria Wirzberger is a tenure-track professor at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, heading the Department of Teaching and Learning with Intelligent Systems. During her interdisciplinary journey, she obtained degrees in inclusive education, psychology and human factors in Bochum, Hagen and Berlin. Her PhD in the interdisciplinary Research Training Group "CrossWorlds" at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, shed light on cognitive processes and mechanisms related to cognitive load in instructional scenarios. From 2018-2020, she was leading the development of an intelligent attention training application at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, Germany. She takes strong initiative in third-party funding and successfully acquired various grants collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines. With her focus on reflecting societal impacts of intelligent systems, she is the spokesperson of the Stuttgart Research Focus "Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems" and recently became member of the Commission expert group on AI and Data in education and training of the European Commission.
