Session: Web3 - unveiling the possibilities

We have in our hands the tools to unlock all human potential.

Imagine entering a country without your legal documentation, being in a different country and having an emergency health care need, needing to prove you can practice law or medicine in a country you did not train, or being a refugee fleeing war - web3 gives us the tool to overcome these challenges.

In this session, I will share such examples - so join me to hear and see first-hand examples of using the blockchain to store our identity, our qualifications, our healthcare records, and our digital assets including our finances.

Key Takeaways

  • Tangible examples for securing self sovereign ownership.
  • Strategic ideas for application of blockchain.
  • Empowerment of all citizens

Bio

Alison is Co-founder, COO, and Director of Ethics of Metcampus, an education and investment Web3 start-up focussed on unlocking all human potential and ensuring all citizens of the world benefit from the evolving Web3 ecosystem.

Alison moved into Web3 following two years as joint CEO of Cornerstone. In this Virtual Reality Training Social enterprise, she used game-changing Virtual Reality training to assist Police, health, education, judiciary, and child protection professionals to walk in the footsteps of those who suffer a myriad of abuses.

Prior to this, Alison spent 33 years managing and leading public services – which included a time as Managing Director of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council, in which she led the delivery of an array of council services to residents. While in this role she oversaw a number of national events: the election of Theresa May, Maidenhead MP, whilst PM, the wedding of HRH Prince Harry to Megan Markal, and the Jubilee celebrations of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Throughout her career, Alison has sought to address issues of inequality and protect children and adults from harm. She started on this path when she was just 15 years old, as a volunteer in a children’s charity, instead of attending school. Alison’s passion for work stems from her experience as a young girl growing up in an abusive working-class household. From here she entered the UK care system and lived in a children's home, foster home, and boarding school. She knows from first-hand experience how hard it is to be included, especially when you have no education. She recently wrote a book about her experience, titled - 'Settling for Less'.

Alison believes that the third iteration of the internet, Web3, can ensure that no person is left behind, that individuals will have more control over their identity and assets and that businesses will have to respond differently to those they currently perceive as customers
