Session: Women disrupting Web3

Moving from Web2 to Web3 can feel complex and confusing. This session will give an insight into why we need to make the transition, and how we can make the transition regardless of our professional background. We want to share our stories of making that transition and provide some hints and tips about how to approach gamified emerging technologies.

Key Takeaways

  • Challenges moving from Web2 to Web3
  • Why you should jump on the train, if you work in tech or as a software developer.
  • The opportunities afforded to us through Web3.

Bio

Alison: I started my journey in life as a white working-class girl in a council estate in East London. I encountered an abusive parent who took away my childhood but taught me to fight. I then spent the next 8 years of my life in the care of the state, foster home, children's home, residential school, learning how to further fight. I use the term because I wasn't taught to use my skills to benefit my life I was purely using them to survive the life I was living.
These skills stood served me well.
At 21 I took on a job as an Apprentice in the field of Youth and Community Services (I took this option because I did not have the education, the support or the resource to go to university) and by 45 I was Director of Children’s Services (there are only 152 of these positions across England) and by 47 I was the CEO of one of the 152 Local Councils in England. Leading a workforce to deliver quality services to meet residents' needs.
I retired from leading Public Services at 51 and now at 53, I’ve joined with a group of people who are all driven and passionate about changing the world, rebalancing the world through, unlocking human potential. Our venture is made possible through the tools of Web3 - consequently, I like many women, have been on a journey of discovery. I have learnt so much but what I want to share is my reflections on how Web3 tools give us a real chance to achieve our collective ambition.

Rike Exner is a software developer from Berlin, Germany with a focus on web technologies, currently excited about Blockchain/Web3 technologies. She has also worked as an online content manager, librarian, and freelancer and gives workshops for beginners in web development to inspire more women to get into coding.

Tako, founder at Unik Labs, building an accessible and collaborative fashion and lifestyle marketplace in the gamified metaverse. While they are building the future of digital retail, diversity and inclusion are core values of Unik Labs. Tako will be talking about how Web3 transitioning strategies can help gamification in fashion pivot the emerging technologies towards inclusion, collaboration and community building.
