Session: Stop Shipping Change Theater: A Pre-Launch Diagnostic for Real Tech Adoption

Most tech transformations look solid on paper: executive sponsorship, clear roadmaps, adequate budgets. Then reality hits. Adoption stalls, workarounds multiply, and teams quietly revert to old ways. The issue usually isn’t the technology or the project plan. It’s that organizations manage change (external rollout) while ignoring transition (the internal human shift) and the conditions that make new behavior possible.

In this session, I’ll introduce The Five-Lever Framework, a practical diagnostic that helps leaders and change practitioners identify where adoption will break before go-live, not after the initiative becomes expensive rework. We’ll use a fast, structured assessment to reveal the “invisible architecture” that determines whether people will genuinely adopt a new system or default to surface-level compliance.

Key Takeaways

  • The Reality Gap: Why adoption is decided by five conditions—Intention, Habits, Norms, Capacity/Autonomy, and Attitudes/Trust—more than by the implementation plan
  • Diagnostic Before Design: How to run a quick pre-launch check to pinpoint your highest-risk adoption failure points (with real scenarios)
  • Resistance as Signal: How to interpret resistance as actionable data—and respond without escalating friction
  • Practical Interventions: Targeted strategies for each lever to shift from checkbox adoption to sustained behavior change
