The finance landscape has been drastically reshaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI), bringing in new ways to dig into data and predict what lies ahead. This talk gives an overview of how AI, especially Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), is changing the game. ML and NLP work together to extract key insights from both text and traditional financial data giving a deeper understanding of major trends and potential future paths of companies. This talk will introduce the technologists about uses of AI in Alpha Research and also provide an insight into the different sources of data that are being utilized to predict future performance of companies, trends, global economy.Key Takeaways

Bio
Anshuma is a Staff Data Scientist at Gusto. Before this she was a Data Scientist in Asset management at Exos Financial where she used AI/ML to derive insights from structured and unstructured data. She has previously worked as an AI Research Scientist at Accenture Labs in San Jose, California where she built AI/ML systems in varied enterprise areas such as CRM, Marketing Automation, Human Resource Management. While in this role, she also lead Responsible AI program in North America contributing to Accenture's thought leadership in ethical use of AI. She has authored 5 patents in the area of ML and NLP, and serves as a technical reviewer and program committee member at some of the top AI conferences such as KDD, ICLR,ACL, etc. Prior to Accenture, she has worked at Expedia, IBM, Reserve Bank of India, and Goldman Sachs. She holds a Master's in Statistics from Columbia University. She is a full-stack AI Scientist having experience in designing, building, and deploying AI backed applications.
