Session: To Manage or Not to Manage

Navigating across the decision of different career paths is a hard problem especially when you are battling the headwinds of uncertainty and apprehension. In this talk, I will go through how you should decide if you want to move to the management track from an Individual Contributor role. I will also talk about some common challenges new managers or tech leads face and provide the audience with frameworks for overcoming them.

Bio

Anwaya Aras is an Engineering Manager at Uber leading the Consumer Delivery experience charter of Uber Eats that serves millions of users across the world. In just 6 years of her professional experience, Anwaya has been able to scale from a backend engineer to AI Lead to an Engineering leader driving several impactful programs at a revolutionary company like Uber. Prior to Uber, Anwaya completed her Masters in Computer Science with a specialization in AI from University of California San Diego. She was also felicitated as a Google Anita Borg Scholar which is a title awarded to women across all of Asia Pacific and Australia to recognize their contributions in the field of Computer Science.
