Session: Tackling Burnout As A Team

After successful careers in engineering, both Caroline and Lennis hit a point many are familiar with: total burnout that rocked their physical, mental and emotional health. In this fireside chat, they'll share their experience with finding the other side of burnout, their work focused on keeping women engaged in STEM careers, and the steps that leaders and organizations can take to retain talented women and foster a culture of high performing teams.

Key Takeaways

  • mental wellness
  • psychological safety
  • women's equity
  • high performing teams

Bio

Caroline Milton is working to change the experience of women in engineering by providing a preventative approach to burnout, building resilient teams, and employing a holistic approach to productivity. With a background in biomedical engineering and supply chain leadership, she has experienced burnout firsthand, and then sought to understand the societal and physiological factors that heighten burnout for women. She now uses her expertise to help equip women in STEM to build a toolkit for burnout prevention and to lead organizations through change management that supports productive and resilient teams.

Recognized as a champion of inclusion, Caroline brings authenticity and individuality to the work she does, knowing that the most effective employees are those that feel seen, safe, and a sense of belonging. When not speaking, coaching, or training, she can most often be found playing outside with her family.

Lennis Perez is a multi-passionate engineer and wellness advocate with over 16 years of process engineering, product management, strategic development, leadership, plus sales and marketing expertise.

As the Chief Wellness Engineer (CWE), she help professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) implement practical and sustainable stress management strategies to cultivate conscious leadership skills and become wellness role models in the workplace.

As a mentor, she helps individuals identify and utilize their natural strengths to support them in achieving their goals, life-work balance, and overall healthy lifestyle.

She work with organizations providing in-person and virtual workshops that help their team members learn easy to use strategies to support their mental and physical well-being.

As an immigrant and Latina, she serves as a role model to her community, speaking up about the cultural biases that limit us from reaching our true potential.
