Session: Digital Empathy : The Human Side of AI
By 2050, the world will have about 2.1 billion people aged 60+ which is nearly double of today and is forcing us to rethink about health, community, and care. There is also growing loneliness and social disconnection which affects people of every age, with strong links to both mental and physical health.
This engaging session explores how practical, human-centered AI paired with intuitive design, adaptive interfaces, and game-inspired experiences can help people feel more connected, stay mentally engaged, and maintain independence across life stages. Grounded in research, pilot studies, and real-world lessons, attendees will see how technology can strengthen emotional support, boost cognitive engagement, and reduce friction for individuals, families, and caregivers.
The presentation will highlight:
Why AI can be a force for social good when designed to strengthen connection, dignity, and access focusing on :
1. AI companions and mental well-being tools that can support emotional regulation and reduce stress.
2. Game-based and interactive experiences that encourage focus, learning, and cognitive stimulation and is useful for many ages, not just older adults
3. A hyper-personalized “legacy keeper” to capture stories, values, and memories hence building connection across families, teams, and generations
4. Building trust: ethical and inclusive AI for privacy, transparency, bias reduction, and safe design that people can rely on
