Session: Strategies for Emerging Tech Leaders

The underrepresentation in top management positions has made women’s status in the tech industry a great concern. In fact, just 26.8% of women are in entry level tech leadership roles compared to 14.1% at the executive level. This workshop will focus on strategies, leadership best practices, and recommendation for emerging female leaders in tech on how to advance in their careers.
AUDIENCE
The proposed audience for this workshop is for attendees that are in a supervisory or management-level capacity. Specifically, this workshop is designed for individuals that have started their leadership career in tech and are wanting to move vertically to the next stage of their career.
The purpose of having early and matured leadership professionals invited in this workshop is to help give them the tools and tips to begin their journey within the vertical as well. Upon conclusion of the workshop, this can provide an opportunity for seasoned professionals to network.
INTRODUCTION
From the time one enters into the workforce to the end of one’s career, there are many obstacles that stand in the way of one attempting to vertically progress. This is more so a challenge for females in technology. This interactive workshop will give participants an opportunity to receive and apply suggestions provided to help strengthen their careers in tech leadership. Whether this is to completely change their leadership careers into tech and then move upward or take on additional responsibility to strengthen one’s career path, this workshop can apply to tech, business, and management professionals. Regardless if one is early in their leadership career or if another is wanting to take that last step towards advancing it, this is a workshop that will prove to be popular, exciting, and impact for all that attend.

BREAKDOWN OF TIME
The workshop will begin with a brief statistical review of how urgent the need of women in tech leadership is within society today. From there, several strategies and directives will be provided to participants on how to successfully grow their careers. This activity may include randomly-paired participants and/or group breakouts (based on participant volume within the workshop). Upon conclusion of the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to discuss these suggestions and/or provide additional ones that all in the workshop can benefit from.

OUTCOMES/CONCLUSION
The goal of this workshop is to provide attendees strategies and tips to positively improve their careers within tech, so they can vertically progress in their career. This also provides a period of time for professionals to network with one another prior to the conclusion of the session.
