Bio

Elizabeth Ndunge Benson is a lecturer at Dedan Kimathi University, School of Computer science and IT. Before Joining Dedan Kimathi university, she served the Barclays Bank of Kenya as a ICT specialist for five years. She is the founder of Joasher Technologies and consultancy, A software developing company who work innovate and motivate young girls from rural areas who have a passion in information Technology. Elizabeth Holds a BSC, Computer Science first class honors degree from Kabarak University, MSC Information Technology Management degree from Sunderland University and currently pursuing har PhD at University of Capetown and Strathmore University. Her research work seeks to develop a Deep learning model for diabetic retinopathy prediction. Her research interests is on Cancer, Diabetes, AI for health, Deep learning. She has been awarded the following scholarships: 2009:- Commonwealth scholarship for her MSC, 2018:- Mawazo Institute PhD Fellowship, 2020: Organization for women in science for the developing world (OSWD) PhD Fellowship, 2020: Innovations throughout Africa East Africa awards in Technology, 2021: appointed to be the Common Wealth Commission strengthening health systems and capacity coordinator.
