Session: Being Your Authentic Self

It can be challenging to be yourself when you feel different from everyone else.

It's so easy to end up trying to be someone you’re not in order to fit in.

But this can take a massive toll on us. It may start small, but continuously having to prove ourselves builds up and drains our energy.

It makes us less creative and intuitive, affects our performance and our ability to shine.

When we show up in life with authenticity, we take on a different persona.

The people we engage with see this and are drawn to us in new ways.

When we’re proud of who we are, we believe in ourselves and feel like we can deal with anything life throws at us. We are less controlling, more open, more innovative and more creative.

In this talk I’ll introduce you to an understanding that can help you reconnect with your authentic self and bring new insight so you see just how resilient you really are.

Bio: Emma Cowling

Emma Cowling is a leadership coach, working with women in tech to help them increase their influence and impact to become the strong authentic leaders that the tech industry needs.

She has worked in tech for nearly 20 years, starting as a software engineer, and moving quickly into a tech management role, where she became responsible for developing people and setting the strategy for future tech developments. After a period of working with academics to commercialise research she secured funding and set up the £18m Digital Creativity Labs research centre, aimed at connecting academia with the games and media industries. She has always loved developing people, which led her to invest in training as a coach.

She now works for herself delivering training and one-to-one coaching to help female leaders in tech connect with what’s important to them, and tap into the confidence and resilience they need show up more authentically and to get out and share their message with the world.
