Session: Leading at the Breaking Point: When Autonomy, Technology, and Humanity Meet

We are at a pivotal moment in leadership - where technological advancements, autonomy, and human values intersect in ways we’ve never seen before. As AI and automation redefine the workplace, organizations face a critical choice: Will technology be a force of empowerment or control?

For much of my life, I lived within a system where autonomy was not an option. Where questioning the rules was dangerous, and compliance was expected. Breaking free wasn’t just about reclaiming my own independence - it was about understanding how systems shape behavior, decisions, and ultimately, leadership. And the truth is, these same invisible forces exist in organizations today.

In this talk, I will explore the paradox of autonomy in a tech-driven world. Through real-world case studies, leadership insights, and my own journey of breaking free from deeply ingrained structures of control, I will unpack the hidden dynamics that limit innovation and decision-making. I’ll share strategies to foster psychological safety, self-leadership, and resilience in teams navigating rapid change - because in an era of accelerating technology, the most crucial skill isn’t technical. It’s knowing how to lead when there is no roadmap.

Attendees will leave with a new perspective on what it really means to lead in uncertain times, build resilient organizations, and ensure that technological progress amplifies human potential rather than suppressing it. The future of leadership isn’t just about managing change - it’s about redefining success in a world where autonomy, technology, and humanity must coexist.

Key Takeaways

  • Recognizing and dismantling systemic barriers: how to challenge outdated leadership models that limit women’s autonomy in tech.
  • Leading with confidence in a rapidly evolving tech world: strategies for stepping into leadership roles despite bias and structural challenges.
  • Psychological safety as a game-changer: how to create environments where diverse teams thrive, innovate, and take risks without fear.
  • Leveraging AI and technology for empowerment: why tech should enhance, not replace, human decision-making, and how women can shape its future.
  • Practical leadership strategies for uncertain times: how to stay agile, resilient, and human-first in an era of disruption and automation.
