Session: Why representation matters in digital content and beyond

When digital content is being created do you ever ask who is missing from it or whose voice isn’t part of the conversation? If not then maybe you should.
In this session I’ll be sharing what inspired me to tackle under representation by writing and publishing my first children’s book. How working in Diversity and Inclusion years later gave me my light bulb moment and planted my desire to work in Tech.
And how you can use your lived experiences to increase the representation in the digital content your company is creating.

Key Takeaways

  • How you can increase the representation in the digital content your company is creating
  • How you can use your passions and lived experience to increase representation
  • Take authentic action to increase representation in digital content and beyond

Bio

Joyce is on a mission to inspire, impact and innovate with Entrepreneurs and Senior Leaders in Tech and beyond through Diversity and Inclusion. For nearly 10 years Joyce worked to increase the representation of women in male dominated industries such as Tech by supporting leaders to attract, retain and develop their female talent. Joyce is very passionate about increasing representation through digital content because it’s vital that people have a safe space to share their lived experiences.
As part of tackling under-representation in Diversity & Inclusion, Joyce wrote and published her first book in 2020-'The Adventures of Amma and Kwessi in Barbados’. A children’s story inspired by her two children and her Ghanaian and Barbadian heritage. She has also co-authored Voices of Hope, sharing her personal story of how she became an author to inspire and transform other people's lives; particularly women.
