Session: Career growth and moving up in corporate ladder

Career growth and moving up in the corporate ladder is a big challenge that a lot of women face. It is a complex problem that is influenced by a lot of factors.
On one hand, women are expected to be likable, gentle, and typical stereotypical personalities, on the other hand, they need to lead, make tough calls as per their professional job responsibilities.
Women do not need to feel pressured to be what others are expecting. They need to know what they want to be, strategize and build a path to get to their goals. They don’t have to be likable, stereotypical people that everyone expects women to be.
If a female leader is a strong leader her male colleagues may get intimidated by her, and act defensively. Women need to have mental toughness, Identify and use their strengths, both intellectual and personality traits, that will allow them to succeed.
Being a woman leader becomes more difficult as one grows in her career. Male leaders are more comfortable with other male leaders, so they prefer to work with and mentor one another. When men in leadership positions recognize and make the necessary support available to women, it will have many positive outcomes.
